The ripple effect
Storm and me playing with energy
Hey there! In last week’s post, we talked about how everything is energy—even us! Our energy is constantly being sent out into the world (and guess what? We’re also soaking in everyone else’s vibes).
Have you ever met someone and just knew they were upset? That’s picking up on energy! Or maybe someone walks into a room and suddenly, the whole atmosphere shifts. That’s the power of energy in action!
But here’s the thing: if we’re not aware of the energy we’re putting out, it can lead to some unexpected challenges—especially with our pets.
The Impact on Our Pets
You know how sometimes you might snap at your dog for barking when you’re actually just stressed about work? Our pets are super sensitive and can pick up on our mixed signals. They don’t get a break from the “shit soup” of our energy and might start acting out just to cope.
So, what can we do about this?
Getting Real with Yourself
The first step is being honest with ourselves about what we’re feeling. I remember when I first realized how my energy affected my dogs. I was dealing with anxiety and didn’t even know it! It was a huge eye-opener.
Understanding and naming our emotions is crucial. It can shift everything for us and our pets. Trust me, they can sense when we’re not okay, even if we’re trying to put on a brave face.
Tips for Learning About Your Energy
Here are some simple tips to help you tune into your energy:
Talk to Your Pet Out Loud:
Life is full of changes, right? Whether it’s a new job, moving, or relationship ups and downs, our pets deserve to know what’s going on. Think about it—would you leave your kids in the dark about big changes? Your pets can handle real conversations!
Do a Body Scan:
Take a moment each day to check in with your body. Sit quietly and listen to what each part has to say. It’s like having a little chat with yourself!
Meditate to Connect:
Spend some time meditating while focusing on your pet. Pair this with a body scan to align your energies. It’s a great way to feel connected, whether you’re at home or away.
While this list isn't exhaustive, it’s a fantastic starting point to help you become aware of the energy you’re projecting. Remember, you don’t have to share your struggles with everyone, but being real with yourself and your pets is a wonderful way to stay aligned.
