Understanding Our energetic presence: the hidden language between us and our pets

"Everything is energy and that is all there is to it" - Albert Einstein

Storm and I share a quiet moment of energetic connection together.

Science shows that our atoms are mostly made up of empty space, and yet we are very real physical beings. Energy is the foundation of the universe, and everything has its own frequency. Physical objects will have a lower and slower frequency than objects that are alive, or objects with less mass.

Everything has its own energetic signature that has an impact on everything else around it - including rocks, trees, mountains, tables, chairs, bugs, rivers, and even the weather. We are always receiving that information, and responding to it.

As living breathing beings, we can change our energy and the frequency of our signature. Events in our day, experiences with other people, good news or bad news, our environment, and our own thoughts can cause our energy to change and shift as we go about our life. From moment to moment, our energy is broadcasting the changes that we are feeling internally.

The Connection Between Our Energy and Pets

Our pets are very in tune with the energetic world. They depend on it to understand and process what is happening around them. They gather information about objects, beings, and even the weather based on how the energy around them feels. Since we form deep relationships with them, they are very tuned in to our energy and how we are feeling at any given moment.

This means that our emotional state has a big impact on our pets. They are always feeling how we feel, even if we don’t say a word. The feel of our energy to them means more than our actions do, and when the two do not align it can cause even more problems.

The biggest issue with this is that our pets never get a break. They live with us in our home, which is saturated in our energy, so even when we leave for work or to shop, that energy signature still lingers. They don’t get a vacation, they can’t go out for dinner with a friend to talk through it, they have no choice but to marinate in our “shit soup” all day every day.

It’s not that we are having a bad day (or week, or month, or year...) that’s the problem. It’s the unacknowledged energy that’s a problem. When we’ve got a stiff grin permanently plastered on our face saying, “I’m fine, it’s fine,” all the while looking more like we’re grimacing than grinning - that’s a problem.

Our pets feel the fact that we are struggling with our own energy and aren’t addressing it. This is one of the mysteries that can cause “misbehavior” from pets. It comes back to us and how we are showing up (or not) with our energy.

Our Pet’s Responses to Our Energy

My dogs were my first pet, and it was a big learning curve with them. In fact, they are the reason that I am an animal communicator today - they were fighting.

When I first signed up for a session, I was at my wits end. My two beloved dogs, who had lived together with me for their entire lives, were fighting. I couldn’t understand why it was happening.

When she tuned in, she found that my shepherd-spaniel mix, Toby, was lashing out at my lab, Bear, because he was struggling with my unmanaged anxiety and struggle. I didn’t even know I was anxious at that point. Toby was doing his best to manage the situation by “managing” Bear in the only way he could - by fighting. I was heart-broken to realize that I was the cause of these issues.

With her assistance, we worked on helping Toby understand that he didn’t have to take on the responsibilities to manage the energy in the house, and promised him that I would begin to work on the things that I was struggling with for myself so everyone (including me!) could be more comfortable.

What I realized was that the stress of all of the transition in my life was simmering just under the surface, and I was unaware of the “shit soup” I was creating, they had to suffer in as well. I know I wasn’t the most pleasant person to live with at the time, and while that energy wasn’t directed at my dogs, they were steeping in it all day long with me.

The good news is that recognizing this is the first and most important step to making any changes, and simply that often has the power to create big shifts in your pet’s behavior. Stay tuned for Part 2 where we’ll dive into this next!
